It has been a LONG time since I last had a blog entry...more than 9 months :) In which time, we have a new addition to our family! Two weeks ago today Nate Gerald was born and he is a sweetie!
He was 10 days past my due date, but weighed in as my lightest baby at 7lbs, 1oz & 21.5" long. With the advice of my best friend, Daye, I wisely chose an epidural this time around...wow what a difference, it was like the un-labour! Dennis found it to be the least stressful labour & delivery for him too (because the husband needs it to be easier right?! LOL!). We were in the hospital for 5 days as Nate was having some trouble getting adjusted to nursing and then he developed Jaundice. Our hospital staff of nurses & my delivering doctor were beyond fabulous. We are so lucky in this little town to have such a fabulous team. The nurse that helped deliver Nate is the same one that delivered Landon - so that was a great surprise! All the nurses were so helpful & friendly it made this labour/delivery/recovery so much easier.
Nate's big brothers Landon & Griffin were beyond thrilled with their new little bro and even now, 2 weeks later they are so sweet with him. Griffin holds Nate many times during the day, usually he wants to hold him when I'm trying to feed him and will repeat (until I give Nate to him), "Its MY turn....It MY turn" and its sometimes followed by "Its not fair" if I don't hand him over. Luckily though, if I stop feeding Nate and give him to Griffin he'll hold him for a couple minutes and when Nate starts crying, he'll say, 'ok you hold him... you hold him.' Landon is very sweet with Nate and has a huge smile on his face whenever he goes near him and you can hear him quietly say, 'oh Nate, you are so cute!' Both love to sit near him and gently pat his head. I knew Landon would be awesome with Nate, but it came as a pleasent surprise that Griffin is so good with Nate. So far he hasn't been jealous or at all rough with Nate so that has been great.
We were SO lucky to have my mom fly out from Alberta to be with us for almost 3 weeks. I literally do not know what I would have done without her. The boys loved spending time with her and I know she enjoyed the extra time with the boys. And with us spending the extra days in the hospital, Dennis was able to be with me most of the time knowing that the boys were well taken care of at home! My mom is the best...we are so lucky.
I'm hoping to blog more entries as both Landon & Griffin have been saying things that crack me up and I don't want to forget these awesome moments. And its easier to share the stories with my family this way...on facebook they can look at the pictures but the stories to go with it are just as fun!
